Event content

For many students, writing a thesis can be a challenging experience, especially when they encounter unexpected problems on the level of content, methodology, and/or organization. As a supervisor it is part of your role to help students to identify and to overcome these challenges. Thus, being a supervisor can be a complex task.
In this workshop, you have the chance to prepare for this task and to expand your strategies for supervising a thesis. You will get to know tools that can help you to structure your work as supervisor, you will discuss different ways of providing assistance and feedback and relate them to the criteria that are being used to assess a thesis in your field. Furthermore, you will reflect what is (or can be) expected from you in the role of a supervisor.
We will work in an interactive online setting which will invite you to share your experiences, questions and thoughts, and discuss them with the group. Connected to inputs and practical advice, this workshop aims at offering you a well-balanced combination of new information and reflective impulses.
This two-day course includes a self-learning task between day one and day two, so please reserve a timeslot of two hours to prepare the task and two more hours to meet with a peer from the workshop.
